Mr. Divyendu Verma is an Advocate and a registered Patent, Design & Trademark Attorney in India and the UAE. Mr. Verma has cross-border IP and technology law expertise with 20+ years of experience, having served as a strategic advisor to innovators in the high-tech, financial, and fintech ecosystems. As a registered Patent, Design & Trademark Attorney in India and the UAE, he has helped companies protect and monetize their cutting-edge technologies - be it blockchain, digital payments, AI-driven platforms, or embedded finance. With deep expertise in patent drafting, prosecution, and litigation, his practice sits at the intersection of law and innovation at scale.
Over the years, he has led large IP projects for national and international clients, framing IP strategies, building implementation frameworks, and assisting companies in developing strong IP portfolios. Within the high-tech sector, he has advised on diverse challenges including software patent protection in India, issues around SEPs and technology standards, and indemnification for patent/IP infringement. His focus is always on aligning legal protection with business objectives to unlock real competitive advantage.
Distinguished for his influence in international design law, Mr. Verma played a pivotal role in negotiating the Design Law Treaty during the WIPO Diplomatic Conference in Riyadh in November 2024. He continues to shape the field as the author of two forthcoming books on Design Law for the Indian and UAE jurisdictions, both scheduled for launch in London in May 2026. His book on AI & Copyright was launched in Japan in September 2025, where he authored the UAE chapter for this global publication by Wolters Kluwer Netherlands B.V. Previously, he authored the India chapter of the book AI and Patent Law, published by Wolters Kluwer in association with AIPPI, Geneva, in October 2023 in Istanbul, Türkiye. His expertise is widely respected across international IP platforms and policy forums, where he has contributed to advancing major legal frameworks impacting multiple countries.
LEADERSHIP POSITION:
(i) Mr. Verma is Chair of India Sub-committee & Vice-Chair of Asia Pacific Committee of AIPLA (American Intellectual Property Law Association) (2024-onwards)
(ii) Mr. Verma is the Member of AI Task-Force of AIPLA (2023-2025)
(iii) Mr. Verma is Standing Committee Member of AIPPI’s Standing Committee on Information Technology & Internet (2022 - 2025)
(iv) Mr. Verma is Standing Committee Member of Copyright Committee of APAA (2023-2025)
(v) Mr. Verma is member of Design Committee of INTA ((2023-2027) and co-represent India in the Standing Committee & handle the work of INTA Designs Policy Subcommittee (2023-2025). Additionally, Mr. Verma has been appointed by INTA as the Member of Trade Dress Task-Force (2024-2025)
(vi) Mr. Verma has been appointed as an Executive member of LES India for 2025.
